Non-Violent Offenders Bailed Out by Church for Easter – A rapper and an Atlanta, GA church help make bail for 23 non-violent criminals, so they can be with their families for Easter.

The rapper led a fundraising drive alongside the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta and Love and Hip Hop‘s Scrapp Deleon dedicated to assisting.

They had a goal to raise $40,000, but they surpassed that with $120,000. Just like this one church, that paid medical debt, this one got non-violent people out of jail.

“I looked at what was happening in the prison pipeline and realized that the church voice had been muted on the issue of prison reform, I realized that we needed to be part of what was taking place.”

In total seven women and 16 men were bailed out from the Georgia’s Dekalb County Jail. The money will be used to start college funds for the children of those released. Not to mention, each of the newly-released citizens will be connected with a certified mentor for weekly check-ins.
