Everything is Permissible

If there was no God than Everything is Permissible because there would be no moral standards to live by. If God does not exists we would not have had the 10 Commandments which is the bases for all laws today. If there is no God like atheist or agnostics claim, then how were you created? Are you saying nothing created something? Note the “if”. If there was no God …

Everything is Permissible

If everything is permissible

If everything is permissible there would be no need for jails, prisons, police officers etc. We would not have a standard to live by. Everything is permissible would mean that we could do anything that we want and we would not have remorse or guilt for doing it. It would also mean that we could do anything we wanted to anyone and get away from it. It would also mean that we would have no laws as well. It would also mean we wouldn’t truly know how to live either or treat others.

Check out what Josh says in God’s Not Dead.

Josh: No, but with no God there is no real reason to be moral; there is not even a standard of what moral behavior is. For Christians, lying, cheating, stealing, and my example, stealing a grade I didn’t earn, are forbidden as a form of theft. But if God does not exist, as Dostoyevsky famously pointed out, “If God does not exist, then everything is permissible.” And not only permissible, but pointless. If Professor Radisson is right, then all of this—all of our struggle, all of our debate, whatever we decide here—is meaningless. I mean, our lives, our deaths are of no more consequence than that of a goldfish.

That does make a good point, if everything is permissible then everything would be meaningless. It wouldn’t matter what we did or how we did it, no matter what we did it would not have meaning. That would mean we could cheat, lie, steal, murder, etc. If everything is permissible that would also mean that nothing is true either. We wouldn’t know the truth on anything.

If everything is permissible we would be running around like chickens with its heads cut off, but instead our heads would be cut off running around aimlessly not knowing what we should be doing.

But God Does Exist! We do have moral standards! Therefore, Everything is not Permissible. We all feel guilty or remorse when we do something wrong. We might always show it, but for the saved we will feel the Holy Spirit convicting us when we do wrong. God won’t allow sin to go unpunished. God will punish sin. God is a God of love, but God is also a just God and will punish sin and those who reject His Son, Jesus Christ. God gave us the standards to live by.

I do believe it takes more faith to believe there is no God, than to to believe there is a God. Romans 1:20 even tells us that by nature, there is proof of creation and no one is without excuse. We can see there is a creator by just looking around us. Even the fool says in his heart there is no God. (See Psalm 14:1)

In reality, there is no atheist or agnostics, because you have suppressed or denied the existence of God. One day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess. (See Romans 14:11 & Philippians 2:10)
