Earth Day

Earth Day is an annual event celebrated worldwide on April 22nd to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It was first celebrated in 1970 and is now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network. The day raises awareness about environmental issues such as pollution, deforestation, climate change, and species extinction.

It also encourages people to take action to protect the planet through activities such as clean-up events, tree planting, and advocacy for sustainable practices. Earth Day serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving Earth’s ecosystems for future generations.

Earth Day was founded by Senator Gaylord Nelson, an environmental activist from Wisconsin, USA. The first Earth Day was celebrated on April 22, 1970. Nelson organized the event as a way to raise awareness about environmental issues and advocate for environmental protection measures. The inaugural Earth Day was a catalyst for the modern environmental movement in the United States and eventually led to the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the passage of landmark environmental legislation such as the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Endangered Species Act.

How can anyone deny there is a creator when they see all that is around us. The Bible tells us that no one is without excuse. Just the fact that we are a creation and every thing around you is a creation is proof enough there is a God. See Romans 1:18-32.

Even Psalm 14:1 says only a fool says there is no God. I do believe that creation is proof of a creator. Something couldn’t have came from nothing. There had to be an intelligent design behind all of creation.

Plus reading the Book of Genesis is a great way to read the creation story and the starting of our World and Earth. Take some time to read the whole book of Genesis and learn about the creation and more.

Some people take the day to plant trees and other plants. Some take the day and clean up trash and litter.

Earth Day was first celebrated in 1970.

No matter how you celebrate Earth Day, make sure you give God thanks for the beautiful Earth he has blessed us with. A Day to honor God and thank God for this beautiful Earth that we live in.

God gave us the Earth to take care of it. Genesis 1:28 and Psalm 115:16 tells us this. There are several others verses through out the Bible that tells us about being stewards of the Earth. We should take care of the Earth every day, not just one day of the year.

Here are a few lesser-known facts about Earth Day:

1. Inspired by Anti-war Protests: Earth Day was partly inspired by the anti-war protests of the late 1960s. Senator Gaylord Nelson, the founder of Earth Day, was inspired by the student anti-war movement and wanted to channel that energy into a movement for environmental protection.
2. Early Name Considerations: Before settling on “Earth Day,” other names considered for the event included “Environment Day” and “Eco Day.”
3. 20 Million Participants: The first Earth Day in 1970 saw an estimated 20 million Americans participate in rallies, demonstrations, and educational events across the country.
4. International Expansion: Earth Day went global in 1990, with 200 million people in 141 countries participating, making it one of the largest environmental events in history.
5. Recycling Symbol: The now-iconic recycling symbol, three arrows forming a triangle, was created by a college student named Gary Anderson for a design competition held by Container Corporation of America in 1970, inspired by the first Earth Day.
6. Earth Day Every Day: While Earth Day is celebrated officially on April 22nd each year, many organizations and individuals promote the idea of everyday environmental stewardship, emphasizing that every day should be Earth Day.

These facts showcase the diverse history and impact of Earth Day as a global environmental movement.

No Mother Nature

There is no Mother Nature in the Earth it is Father Creator, God! God controls everything including the weather. Saying Mother Nature does is giving god like qualities to something and saying you don’t trust or believe God is the one in control. You are then forming an idol.
