Ray Comfort is a Christian evangelist, author, and filmmaker from New Zealand who has been actively sharing his faith for over four decades. One of Comfort’s most notable contributions to Christian evangelism is the development of the “Way of the Master” evangelism training program. This program, co-created with television producer Kirk Cameron, emphasizes the use of the Ten Commandments to convict people of sin and their need for a Savior. The program also emphasizes the importance of using open-air preaching and one-on-one conversations to share the gospel.
Ray Comfort is known for using what he calls the “Good Person Test” as a tool for evangelism. The test is based on the idea that many people believe they are good enough to go to heaven, but the Bible teaches that all have sinned and fall short of God’s standard of perfection.
The Good Person Test typically involves asking a series of questions to help someone examine their own morality and realize their need for a Savior. The questions might include things like, “Have you ever told a lie?”or “Have you ever stolen anything, even if it was small?”
By asking these questions, Comfort aims to help people see that they have broken God’s law and are in need of forgiveness and salvation through Jesus Christ. The test is intended to be a tool for starting conversations about the gospel and pointing people to the truth of the Bible.
While the Good Person Test has been criticized by some as too simplistic or manipulative, Comfort sees it as an effective way to communicate the message of salvation to those who may not otherwise be receptive to it. He believes that by exposing people’s need for a Savior, he can help them find hope and redemption in Jesus Christ.
In addition to his evangelistic work, Comfort has written over 70 books on Christianity and apologetics, many of which have become bestsellers. Some of his most popular works include “The Evidence Bible,” “God Doesn’t Believe in Atheists,” and “The School of Biblical Evangelism.”
Comfort is also a prolific filmmaker, having produced over a dozen documentaries on topics related to Christianity and evangelism. Some of his most popular films include “The Atheist Delusion,” “180,” “Evolution Vs. God” and “Noah and the Last Days.”
Despite his success as an evangelist and author, Comfort has also faced criticism from some in the Christian community. Some have accused him of being too confrontational in his approach to evangelism, while others have questioned his biblical interpretations and theology.
Despite these criticisms, Ray Comfort remains a prominent figure in the world of Christian evangelism. Through his books, films, and evangelistic efforts, he continues to share the message of the gospel with people around the world.
