Mother’s Day was Invented in Kentucky

Here, Mary Towles Sasseen Wilson on 1887, First observed Mother’s Day. Started with her pupils. In 1893, she obtained national observance. KY legislature recognized her as “Originator of idea.” Congress adopted second Sunday of May as holiday in 1914.

First Mother’s Day celebration was on April 20, 1887, which was Sasseen Wilson’s mother’s birthday.
