Knowing Christ Today by Dallas Willard — Willard’s work confronts a critical issue in modern Christian thought: the separation of Jesus’ teachings from what is considered genuine knowledge. He argues that this division has led to a catastrophic misunderstanding of what it means to know Christ and live according to His teachings. The book’s aim is to reestablish the core teachings of Christianity—often referred to as “Mere” Christianity—as a substantial and recognized form of knowledge¹[1].

  1. I used to be so good with the military alphabet that I could spell things out without hesitation, but one day, when I was talking to a German vendor, trying to negotiate a better deal for future construction projects for the military in SW Germany, they wanted me to spell my name. I used the German pronunciation instead of English. My secretary, A Czech who had been a displaced person after WWII and married to a German, was surprised that I could switch between alphabets without slowing down. These days, I do the English alphabet slowly.

    1. One of my jobs was a security officer for police department, we had to use the alpha codes, the 10-Codes, Action Codes, etc. I don’t remember many of those, mostly the Alpha Codes.
