National Pickle Day

National Pickle Day - day for the beloved pickled cucumber we all or most of all of us love.

A pickle summed up is a cucumbers that has been soaking in a vinegar, water (brine) and seasoning mixture. Dutch word pekel, meaning brine. Or known as Pickled Cucumber.

National Pickle Day is held annually on November 14 with encouragement from the Pickle Packers Association in 1949.

Pickle Facts

  • We consume 5,200,000 pounds of pickles each year in the United States.
  • Pickles are a great snack, low in calories and a good source of vitamin K, but high in sodium.
  • When served on a stick at festivals, fairs or carnivals, pickles are sometimes known as “stick pickles”.
  • A rising trend in the United States is deep-fried pickles which have a breading or batter surrounding the pickle spear or slice. (Zaxby’s has good Deep Fried Pickles!)

My favorite kind of pickles are Dill Pickles!

I do not like sweet pickles or bread and butter pickles.

My Favorite pickle brands:

  • Vlassic
  • Nathan’s
  • Claussen’s

My ultimate favorite is The Hearty Garlic by Claussen’s.

I love dill pickle juice (pickle brine). I like all three of those brimes.

There is one brand I do not like, I do not like Mt. Olive. Not sure why, but I don’t.

I also love fried pickle chips.

Pickles are great as a snack, on a sandwich or burger and even fried!

Knowing Christ Today by Dallas Willard — Willard’s work confronts a critical issue in modern Christian thought: the separation of Jesus’ teachings from what is considered genuine knowledge. He argues that this division has led to a catastrophic misunderstanding of what it means to know Christ and live according to His teachings. The book’s aim is to reestablish the core teachings of Christianity—often referred to as “Mere” Christianity—as a substantial and recognized form of knowledge¹[1].
