Hunting season is upon us again. In my home state of Tennessee, squirrel season opens at the end of August and dove season on the first day of September. This is a great time to introduce young and new hunters to the shooting sports. Many times, deer season comes and goes without a single shot being fired. And sometimes this can be discouraging for those who are excited about pulling the trigger.

Suicide Hotline into Corn Maze – A Wisconsin farmer decided to put the suicide hotline into his corn maze as well as Your Life Matters on the the corn maze. Govin’s Farm in Menomonie, WI has an 11-acre maze (that is about the size of 14 football fields). On the corn maze it says “Your life matters” and has the number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-TALK (8255).

Getting outdoors really is good for you – People who live in regions where winters are cold often note the feeling of rejuvenation they enjoy on the first warm day of late-winter or spring. At approximately 3:00 p.m., August 1, 2019, the northern area of Great Smoky Mountains National Park near Gatlinburg, TN experienced extremely heavy rainfall causing multiple small rock slides, downed trees, and flash flooding along the Spur and Gatlinburg Bypass.
