World Lion Day – A Day to honor the “Big Cat” feline the Lion. #LionDay #WorldLionDay #Lions
Not World Lyin’ Day! Just saying … Roar!
World Lion Day
This day is held annually on August 10. It has been celebrated since 2013 by Rae Kokeš and David Youldon from the African Lion & Environmental Research Trust (ALERT).
Maybe take the family and go to the zoo and see some Lions, the King of the Jungle.
“I was not the lion, but it fell upon me to give the lion’s roar”
Winston Churchill, politician, 1874-1965
World Lion Day was created to act as an awareness-building vehicle. The campaign aims to highlight the plight of African and Asiatic lion whilst also demonstrating our shared global heritage of the species. The lion plays a significant role biologically, culturally, symbolically, economically and more. It is hoped that the recognition of the species’ worldwide importance will result in more active conservation worldwide also.1
Did you know there are lions in the Bible? One example is Daniel and the Lion’s Den. Check out Daniel 6.
