Donate Luggage to your local foster care agency – A way to donate that unwanted luggage so a child can use it for their belongings, instead of transporting them in a trash bag.
My wife saw this on Instagram and shared it with me. I then had to share it with you all!
Donate Luggage to your local foster care agency
In the post it shares this …
BTW, Goodwill, is a loose term for thrift store or donation center.
If you are getting rid of any kind of luggage – do not take it to Good will. Clean it up and drop it off at your local foster care agency. Foster kids are often asked to transport their belongings from place to place in a trash bag. I don’t ask you to share often but if enough share we can help just a little bit with the self esteem of these young people. Just a thought as we get closer to our Spring cleaning.

I would check with your local or area foster care agencies before donating them, to make sure they do accept those donations. I am sure they do. But, it is best to double check to make sure your local foster care agency does.
I think the child(ren) would prefer to take their stuff in a suit case, backpack, etc. than a garbage bag. I know I would! (This was pointed out in a movie called Instant Family)
Question time!
Foster Agencies, do you accept donations of luggage? Foster care parents, do you see a lot of kids coming to you with garbage bags or luggage? Anything else to add to this post would be great. Thanks!

Great idea!!! I’m always looking for unique ideas when donating. I never thought of this!! Thanks!!
Yes, it is very unique way to donate. Thanks for visiting and commenting.
It is practically impossible to do this. To begin with, you can’t find the place to donate it, and mostly foster care/women’s shelters need money rather than used luggage. Foster care doesn’t even list the possibility of donations, I thought of the lawyers that deal with foster care cases, but, imagine, would they want the luggage? Sounds good in theory …
I haven’t tried to do it, but I saw it and figured I would share. Maybe someone who works for foster care can chime in and help with that too. But I am sure each location is different on how it handles it too. I don’t think the lawyers want to also lug luggage on top of case files. Thank you for your comment Denis.
Hi! Just thought you should check with the foster care location before you donate luggage, etc. Since the pandemic started, our area no longer accepts used luggage, duffel bags, or back packs, and clothing, etc. All donated items for the children must be new, with tags still on.
Oh wow! Good idea and thank you for that information.
