The first print was in December 2013, then sometime in January 2014, they pulled the books and reprinted them. But that doesn’t mean old copies are still floating around. So you might want to double check it.

It is still bad that the first print had this heroical error in it. (Leaving the bad book still available, ironically that book would be worth money due then updating it).

Remember it is always best to read any books you give your children to read before they read it.

If you do want to buy this book, check for the updated version of the book.

Thanks to the few people who messaged me about this update. So I can update this blog post.

So 10 years later, this book started circulating social media again.

I haven’t found where she gave an apology, if you know where, please let us know in the comments.

If you have this copy of the book or had it, which version do you have?

As I get more info, this blog post may get updated.

Stay away from the new children’s book, “The Baptism of Jesus” by Katherine Sully. Just to be clear, and this is a very important point, Jesus never sinned. Jesus was the perfect sacrificial lamb without spot or blemish. It is wrong to say that Jesus sinned. Make sure you’re teaching the truth.

In Sully’s book it says, “I have come to the river today, to wash my sins away,” claiming Jesus said that. He NEVER said that! Jesus was perfect and lived a sinless life.

Then Jesus arrived from Galilee at the Jordan coming to John, to be baptized by him. But John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I have need to be baptized by You, and do You come to me?” But Jesus answering said to him, “Permit it at this time; for in this way it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he permitted Him. After being baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove and lighting on Him, and behold, a voice out of the heavens said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased.”

Matthew‬ ‭3‬:‭13‬-‭17‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

The Now when all the people were baptized, Jesus was also baptized, and while He was praying, heaven was opened, and the Holy Spirit descended upon Him in bodily form like a dove, and a voice came out of heaven, “You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased.”

Luke‬ ‭3‬:‭21‬-‭22‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

In those days Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. Immediately coming up out of the water, He saw the heavens opening, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon Him; and a voice came out of the heavens: “You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased.”

Mark‬ ‭1‬:‭9‬-‭11‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

John testified saying, “I have seen the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven, and He remained upon Him. I did not recognize Him, but He who sent me to baptize in water said to me, ‘He upon whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining upon Him, this is the One who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.’ I myself have seen, and have testified that this is the Son of God.”

John‬ ‭1‬:‭32‬-‭34‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

These lies and stuff is how heresy and false teachings start, by books like this. Because it says it is Christian, doesn’t mean it is!

No where does it say what Sully claims Jesus said.

Make sure you fully read the books you let your children read, including Christian books!

Update: Some people are sharing this book has been updated, however, it is a bad thing the first print was published like that. Meaning there are still old versions out. I haven’t been able to confirm that yet. It makes you wonder why it was printed like that in the first place?

Yes, this book came out in 2013, but buyers still need to be aware of the this updated or not.

People have messaged me saying in 2014 the book was updated and the author has apologized. Here is the retracted updated page. Now it says, “I have come to the river today, because this is the right way,” said Jesus.

This made me update this blog post totally, but keeping the original content.

  1. This is not a new book. It was published in 2013 and was only in print less than a year before it was edited, corrected, and reprinted in 2014. The image you copied from Facebook has been floating around the internet for over a decade. The updated version is both beautiful and theologically correct.
