Their debut album, “These Simple Truths,” was released in 2009 and quickly rose to the top of the Christian music charts. The album’s lead single, “The Words I Would Say,” became a hit and received widespread radio airplay. The song’s uplifting lyrics and catchy melody resonated with listeners, and it remains one of the band’s most popular songs to this day.

Over the years, Sidewalk Prophets has continued to produce music that inspires and uplifts. Their albums have been praised for their honesty, vulnerability, and heartfelt lyrics. The band’s music covers a wide range of topics, from faith and hope to love and loss. They have a unique ability to connect with listeners and speak to their hearts.

In addition to their music, Sidewalk Prophets is also known for their energetic live performances. The band has toured extensively, performing at churches, festivals, and other events across the country. They have a reputation for putting on a show that is both entertaining and inspiring.

Beyond their music and performances, Sidewalk Prophets is committed to making a positive impact on the world. The band has partnered with various charities and organizations to support causes such as clean water initiatives, children’s hospitals, and disaster relief efforts. They also use their music as a platform to raise awareness and promote positive change.

One interesting fact about Sidewalk Prophets that many people may not know is that the band’s name was inspired by a passage in the book of Acts in the Bible. In Acts 3:1-10, there is a story of a man who was lame from birth and used to sit at the gate of the temple, begging for alms. One day, the apostles Peter and John encountered him and healed him in the name of Jesus. The man, who had never been able to walk before, immediately stood up and began to walk and leap and praise God.

The passage goes on to say that the people who witnessed the healing were amazed and gathered around Peter and John. Peter then delivers a powerful sermon, in which he tells the people that they are all prophets, and that they have been called to proclaim the message of Jesus to the world. He says, “And it shall be that every soul who does not listen to that prophet shall be destroyed from the people” (Acts 3:23).

The name “Sidewalk Prophets” is a nod to this passage, and to the idea that all Christians are called to be prophets, spreading the message of God’s love and redemption to the world. It’s a powerful reminder that we all have a role to play in sharing the good news of Jesus with others.

Sidewalk Prophets’ impact on the Christian music scene and beyond is undeniable. Their music has touched countless lives and inspired many to deepen their faith and live with purpose. As they continue to create and perform, it’s clear that they will continue to be a powerful force for good in the world.

Knowing Christ Today by Dallas Willard — Willard’s work confronts a critical issue in modern Christian thought: the separation of Jesus’ teachings from what is considered genuine knowledge. He argues that this division has led to a catastrophic misunderstanding of what it means to know Christ and live according to His teachings. The book’s aim is to reestablish the core teachings of Christianity—often referred to as “Mere” Christianity—as a substantial and recognized form of knowledge¹[1].
