World Teachers Day - A day to honor teachers world wide. Also known as International Teachers Day #WorldTeachersDay #TeachersDay

Teachers you have another Teacher Holiday! This one is held annually on October 5 called World Teachers Day or known as International Teachers Day. This teacher holiday was established in 1994. It celebrated the signing of the 1966 UNESCO/ILO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers, which is a standard-setting instrument that addresses the status and situations of teachers around the world.

2019 was the 25th Anniversary! The theme for 2019 was …

“Young Teachers: The future of the Profession.”

The day provides the occasion to celebrate the teaching profession worldwide, to take stock of achievements, and to address some of the issues central for attracting and keeping the brightest minds and young talents in the profession.

The official event will take place on Monday, 7 October at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris in collaboration with the convening partners, including UNICEF, UNDP, the International Labour Organization and Education International and will be celebrated globally with various events.

2018 Theme

The 2018 theme is “The right to education means the right to a qualified teacher.”

2017 Theme

The theme for 2017 was “Empowering Teachers”

Other Teachers Day

The other teacher holiday is National Teachers Day which is held in May.
