This movie is an awesome Christian movie. This movie was done by the same Kendrick Brothers that done (Flywheel, Facing the Giants, Courageous and Fireproof). All awesome movies. I think this one tops them all.
I went with my mom to Knoxville, TN to watch this movie. My mom already saw it the night before. I watched this movie August 28, 2015.
About War Room
From the award-winning creators of Fireproof and Courageous comes WAR ROOM, a compelling drama with humor and heart that explores the power that prayer can have on marriages, parenting, careers, friendships, and every other area of our lives.
Tony and Elizabeth Jordan have it all—great jobs, a beautiful daughter, and their dream house. But appearances can be deceiving. Tony and Elizabeth Jordan’s world is actually crumbling under the strain of a failing marriage. While Tony basks in his professional success and flirts with temptation, Elizabeth resigns herself to increasing bitterness. But their lives take an unexpected turn when Elizabeth meets her newest client, Miss Clara, and is challenged to establish a “war room” and a battle plan of prayer for her family. As Elizabeth tries to fight for her family, Tony’s hidden struggles come to light. Tony must decide if he will make amends to his family and prove Miss Clara’s wisdom that victories don’t come by accident.
In theaters now and filled with more of the authentic characters loved by millions in previous Kendrick Brothers’ films, WAR ROOM is a vivid reminder that prayer is a powerful weapon. 1
My Review of War Room
I hope I don’t give spoilers by writing this up. But I am sharing some of my notes and takes of the movie.
This movie really inspired me about prayer and the importance of prayer. This movie made a lot of references to Bible verses. It also made to note about Jesus is the only way. Plus tons on prayer and your prayer room. This one old lady called hers her “Warm Room” because that is where she prays to God to fight her battles for her.
Do you just fight in your marriage? Is your family life a battle? Maybe we are fighting the wrong way? Maybe you should pray instead? This movie made me cry and even laugh. There was some sad moments as well as happy moments.
Even Michael Jr. the Christian Comedian was in this movie. The Kendrick Brothers filmed this one in North Carolina, instead of their usually Albany, GA location. There is even an implied reference to one of their other movies, Flywheel. You might not notice it, but I saw it. Hint it deals with a form of transportation.
“We must plead with God, so He can do what only He can do. Get out of the way and let Him do it. Do your fighting in prayer!”
Do you have a prayer room or war room? If not I encourage you to make one. I plan to try to do one in this apartment. If you don’t have a closet, an area of your living place that you can set aside to pray without distractions. This includes not bringing your cell phone in there.
You might even recognize some of the people in this movie from other Kendrick Brother’s movies.
This movie also involves a family and how prayer helped change them. This change can help to you too though prayer and trust in Christ. Give it all to Him. Total surrender. We cannot be lukewarm.
What is your prayer strategy? I encourage you to watch this movie and see if the way you pray changes? Prayer is a powerful weapon. Maybe this movie will inspire you to start praying or change the way you do pray. Maybe encourage you to pray more and harder to allow God to fight your battles not you. We will never win when we fight our own battles.
This was filled with great Christian Music too. Including a new song by Stephen Curtis Chapman. Plus songs from Casting Crowns, TobyMac, Mandisa, Building 429 and more.
War Room also shares Bible verses throughout the movie. Some are The Devil comes to steal, kill and destroy but the Lord comes to give life. (See John 10:10) It also shares that we must go to our most inner room of our home to pray in secret. (See Matthew 6:6) There are more that was just a couple of the verses that I could remember off the top of my head.
My mom loved this movie, as I said before she watched it once before. She likes the old lady in War Room and she liked the part that said God Never Retires.
Having a War Room (Prayer Room, Prayer Closet) is a great place to go pray and study. You can keep your Prayer Journal in there.
I enjoyed this movie very much. I highly recommend you watch this movie. Maybe take the whole family or church out to see this movie. I know when I went to the showing I did, they had two, a church rented one of the rooms. I also have talked to other friends and their churches are hosting a showing by renting a theater to show this movie. I cannot wait for it to come out on DVD. I do believe this is one of the best Christian movies ever. It also surpasses Courageous and Fireproof by far. It almost combines those two movies using prayer.
2 Chronicles 7:14 New King James Version (NKJV)
if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
“I’m excited about the new film WAR ROOM. Join me in praying for those who see WAR ROOM, that God would touch their hearts.”
“This is the Kendrick Brothers’ most-inspiring movie yet. WAR ROOM made me laugh, cry, and shout, ‘Amen, Sister!,’ ‘Kill it, Brother!,’ and ‘Thank you, Father!!’ It makes me want to build a prayer room in my house and battle daily for those I love.”
Thom S. Rainer, President and CEO of LifeWay Christian Resources
“WAR ROOM is one of the best and most impactful movies I have ever seen! My prayer is that the Kendrick Brothers’ new movie will encourage believers to develop meaningful prayer lives and inspire churches to enhance their prayer ministries.”

I did this review on my own. I had earned a free pass from the Carkmike Rewards and used that to watch this movie. My mom even joined me and got me popcorn and a coke. Thanks for that mom!
