USPS Postage Rate decreases?

Usually the USPS Postage goes up each year or so. That is one reason for the Forever Stamps came out, so you don’t have to add the additional postage to make the first class letter current. Plus the with the USPS Postage having a Forever Stamp, helps to where they don’t need to reprint new postage stamps each time an increase is made or even trying to figure out or return letters that didn’t match up to the new postage regulations.

But this time the USPS postage rates are going down. That means if you pre-bought any forever stamps when postage goes down you are losing money now. Before hand it worked to your advantage if you pre-bought the forever stamps. If you have plans to buy postage stands and you can hold it off, I would hold off until the postage rate decreases.

On April 10, 2016 stamp prices go down two cents from 49¢ to 47¢. From what I read it was because of Congress and a deal with the post office and USPS believe it will hurt them doing this decrease. I am sure as technology, text messages and email increases the need for first class letters decrease, but I read that first class letters still make up 76% of their sales.

The USPS Postage Rate Change Chart

Current Mandated Reduction
• Letters (1 oz.) 49 cents 47 cents
• Letters additional ounces 22 cents 21 cents
• Letters to all international destinations $1.20 $1.15
• Postcards 35 cents 34 cents

I know this postage decrease will help Courageous Christian Father ministry because people send me things to review for one. Plus, it will help as I mail out memo pads to some people.

Did you also know that The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
