Unity: The Floating Ants

We can learn a lot about unity by observing the ants that make a raft to survive being on water by working together to help save each other.. As Christians we should come together in unity like these ants do for a given purpose to reach the lost dark and dying world.

Together we’re strong but divided we fall!

We as Christians should be in unity with one another, yet we are more divided then ever before. We are divided on stuff that don’t matter. We should focus our unity on the one that can save us … Jesus Christ.

The word “ants” is only used once in the King James Version and the New King James Version of the Bible. Below is the NKJV for Proverbs 30:25

The ants are a people not strong,
Yet they prepare their food in the summer;

Just like the ant, we are not strong when it comes to sin. We must tell the world about Jesus! We must unite and share the Gospel together. We cannot win someone when we are divided. We must unite and work together for the benefit of the Kingdom. The main goal is to share Jesus Christ as the only way to heaven.

Works won’t save us! Only Jesus can. We must share the true Jesus to this dark and lost world. How can the world see Jesus when everyone is sharing what they believe Jesus is. When the Bible clearly tells us who Jesus is and that He is the only way to heaven. There are no other ways which man can be saved. (See Acts 4:12)

Why must me walk in unity?

The Bible tells us to walk in unity. Check out Ephesians 4:

I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

Salvation is only through Jesus Christ.

I ask you my fellow brothers and sisters, let us walk in unity and share boldly Jesus in this dark and lost world so we can win souls. They ants store their food up for the summer. We must store ours up in Heaven. What is that you ask? It’s soul winning! Winning souls is our treasures that we lay in heaven. Souls are the only thing we take with us to heaven. So Lay your treasures in heaven. Share Jesus Christ with those around you, those you love and come in contact with. (See Matthew 6:19-21)

To walk in unity means we have one accord, one purpose. That purpose is sharing the one that can save us … Jesus Christ!

We must work in unity like the ants do to store their food and when they make a raft. Ants may be weak by themselves, but when they pull together in unity they are stronger. Ants work together in unity. We can be like these ants, when we pull together in unity we can be stronger and brighter in this dark world.

These ants use their own bodies. Remember our bodies are a temple for the Lord. We must use our bodies for the glory of God. (See 1 Corinthians 6:19-21) Sometimes that does mean we sacrifice our wants our ourselves. We must die daily to ourselves and our sins and desires to share Christ. Even give our own life for the Kingdom as well. Those who lose their life gain their life. I am sure the ants on the bottom of the raft gave their own life to save the other ants in their colony.  (Show this several times in Matthew, Mark, Luke & John).

Let’s link together in until and build our raft and bring aboard everyone we can. Just like Noah and the Great Flood. He invited people into the means of salvation, but they refused. We will still find people that refuses it, but we must still offer it!

Did you know?

  • There are usually thousands of ants in an ant raft?
  • They can usually form these rafts in around 100 seconds.
  • They can survive weeks on the raft.
  • They stay afloat until they hit land.

If these ants didn’t stick together in unity, they would fall, they would separate and drown. They wouldn’t survive. They wouldn’t have made it to the promise land, which would be dry land for them. They just kept working to make the raft stay active.  We must do the same. We must work till Jesus comes.

This why unity is important. We need all of us to come together so we can stay afloat. The more people we have the more people can we reach and the less time it takes to reach lost people. Together we can survive. We will all stay afloat until we reach heaven or Jesus comes back for us. So lets work in unity to share the Gospel of Jesus.

  1. There are several aspects of unity within the body. Yes when we are in unity with each other in equipping and sharping each other we can expand more and stand united in sharing Christ.
