Three Little Pigs Analogy

I use the story of the three little pigs to make an analogy about Christ being our rock, our firm foundation.

Foundation is important so we will know when the big bad wolf comes along. In the three little pigs there were three houses built. One built a house out of straw. The wolf goes to blow that house down and does. So that pig goes to his brothers house who was made of furze. The wolf was able to blow this one down. So now the two brothers run to their other brother. This brother built his house out of brick. The wolf was unable to blow this one down, no matter how hard he blew.

We can say that the pigs and their house is their faith. We can say the wolf is the devil. What we build our faith out of is very important for when the devil come and attacks us. This is one reason we must stay grounded in God’s Word. The firm foundation we must have is Jesus Christ. (See 1 Corinthians 3:11)

When we act upon, having faith in Jesus, we have built our house on solid rock foundation. We must put it into action! (See Matthew 7:34)

Even in the Old Testament it was known that God is their solid foundation rock. (See 1 Samuel 2:2; 2 Samuel 22:47; Psalm 18:2, Psalm 18:31 and many more places)

Check out what Jesus says here in Luke 6:47-59.

47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:

48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.

49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.

Matthew 16:18 tells us that not even the gates of hell shall not prevail against the rock.

Build your foundation upon the Rock! The Rock of Jesus Christ. Building our foundation on Christ when the storm rises we won’t be moved or shaken. We can withstand anything the devil puts in our path and the devil won’t be able to blow our house down.
