Three fingers pointing back at you

Three fingers pointing back at you. When you point at someone you have more fingers pointing back at you. We need to look at our own sin before we confront others on their sin.

Three fingers pointing back at you

To often we want to point out the sin of others and ignore our own sin. We often don’t want to admit we sin or do wrong like the Pharisees. We too often can tell other people what to do and not do it ourselves. The old saying, practice what you preach. However, before we can help other people, we must first deal with our own sin. Give that sin to God! Ask for forgiveness and be retentive, means a change in directions. A 180 not a 360!

This includes before we do church discipline. How can we discipline someone we are in the wrong too. God will not allow a true Christian to sin successfully. What do I mean by that? I mean, if you are truly born again, a Child of God, than God has a new desire in you that you will not want to do that. If you do, you would be quick to confess and repent!

So before you point out the sin of others just remember when you point your finger, you will have 3 fingers that are pointing back at you (see the graphic below). Now that can be some food for thought. I have even included some Bible verses below. One is talking about trying to help remove a spec from a fellow believers eye, while you have a bigger plank or log in your own eye. You can’t help that other believer until you get the one out of your eye first.

Three fingers pointing back similar Bible Verses

Matthew 7:3-5 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and behold, the log is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.

Luke 6:41-42 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

41 Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 42 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother’s eye.

Repentance: It’s a 180 not a 360
