A folded piece of paper, is exactly what this new woman at my church handed me. I do not know who she is, nor does she know who I am. But she gave me this folded piece of paper with two Bible verses on them. Read this blog post to find out what those verses were and what these verses mean to me and how they seem to relate to what is going on with me right now. #Bible #Ruth #Psalm

Today after church service, this new woman at our church (Piedmont Baptist) walked up to me and said, “Mr. Patterson!” How she knew my name I don’t know. Most of the church there they call me Steve. As you seen I said she called me by my last name. I believe this was her first Sunday there. I don’t even know her name.

She handed me a folded piece of paper and said God bless you. Not totally sure what it was. Maybe honestly thinking it could have contained a phone number or something. I opened it and it has two Bible verses written down on it. (see that piece of paper below)

Ruth 2:12
Psalm 37:4

The Folded Piece of Paper - Ruth 2:12 Psalm 37:4
The Folded Piece of Paper – Ruth 2:12 Psalm 37:4

So I used my Bible Gateway app on my phone to look these verses up.

Ruth 2:12

The Lord repay your work, and a full reward be given you by the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge.”

I have been going through a lot here lately. I think both of these verse I really need to see. This verse reminds me how we are like eagles to God. He takes us under his wings. This also reminds me that nothing we do for God is in vain. Anything and everything we do for the benefit of the Kingdom is great work and we will get rewarded for it. We may not get rewarded for it on Earth, but we will in Heaven. Also tells me no matter what we are going through God is always there for us. We are to seek Him and go to Him in our time of trouble.

Psalm 37:4

Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Again this verse to me also shows where we need to trust in God for all things we do. Be happy with what God has given us. Plus, keep on keep on doing the work of God.

My heart has been troubled and saddened here lately with some things that I have been going through. These verses touched me. I even had tears down my eyes after reading both of them. I really needed to hear them.

I want to say thank you Lord for sending this Earthly angel to give me these verse. You sure to know when we need something and exactly what it is we need. I know that must have taken a lot of courage for this woman to do, especially since she didn’t know me and I didn’t know her, plus she is new to our church too.
