The Bible May Soon Be Tennessee’s Official State Book

The Associated Press just announced in February 2015 that Freshman Rep. Jerry Sexton wants to add the Holy Bible to the state symbols of Tennessee. The Holy Bible would be designed as the Official State Book.

The Bible May Soon Be Tennessee’s Official State Book

In the state of Tennessee we have a lot of official items like the State Tree is the Tulip Popular and the Official State Flower is the Iris.

Sexton,  is from the Bean Station Republican Legislature. Bean Station, TN is not too far from the city I live in, Jefferson City, TN. I guess we shall see. Tennessee is after all one of the Bible Belt States. We shall soon see if it goes further. I am sure there would be some oppositions to it too. I pray and hope this would pass. Sexton’s stats show that he is a Baptist.

Even in April 2015, it got approved then overturned. Now this April 2016, it got approved … Now to wait for it to be signed into a bill.

After all God made everything including the State of Tennessee.

God is in control!

Update: It has been over a year when this first came up, February 2015 and today it just got the vote needed. This is what Franklin Graham said on Facebook …

The Tennessee Senate just voted 19-8 in favor of a bill to designate the Holy Bible as the official state book. Way to go Tennessee! And I hope Governor Bill Haslam will sign the bill to make it official. Legislators said they wanted to recognize and preserve the historical contributions of the Bible to this state. Just think of the incredible impact the Bible has had on this nation and on mankind. It’s not just a book—it’s the holy Word of God. It is true from cover to cover, and I believe it. Its teachings are the foundation of my life and I rely on it every day for strength, encouragement, wisdom, and direction. “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path” (Psalm 119:105).

Now to wait for Governor Bill Haslam to sign it to make it official!

UPDATE: Governor Bill Haslam vetoed the bill. This is very sad news! We as a Nation, including the great State of Tennessee is taking our eyes away from God.

I will update this post as more develops.
