Teddy Bear Day – a day to celebrate that cuddle stuffed bear. #TeddyBearDay
Teddy Bear Day
This day to honor and celebrate the cuddle teddy bear is every September 9. Take this day to spend time with your cuddly teddy bear or build a new one at Build-A-Bear with their special promo they have going on. See below
How Teddy Got His Name!
In 1902, American President Theodore Roosevelt refused to shoot a bear cub while hunting in Mississippi.
This incident made national news. Clifford Berryman published a cartoon of the event in the Washington Post on November 16th, 1902. The caricature became an instant classic. It inspired a New York store owner Morris Michtom to create a new toy. Morris Michtom wrote President Roosevelt to ask permission to name the new toy a “Teddy Bear”.
Build-A-Bear Workshop is giving away a free stuffed toy with any $15 purchase to celebrate National Teddy Bear Day in stores on September 8-9, 2018. I hope it won’t flop like the last time they did a promotion. I am sure this is based on certain conditions too. See each store for details.
However, November 14 of each year is National American Teddy Bear Day while National Teddy Bear is September 9.
