I heard about this on the Wally Show on WAY-FM, on Friday, August 23, 2019. They talked about this challenge to stop criticizing others. Pink also shows as P!nk. Her real name is Alecia Beth Moore.

Criticism is toxic to healthy relationships.

Its difficult to find the good in others, while it’s easy to find the bad or negative that I believe is a reason we criticize.

Pink posted this on Instagram On Sunday, August 18, 2019, Pink proposed “a worldwide internet challenge” to “go ONE day without criticizing someone online.” Here is what she said on Instagram.

I’d like to propose a worldwide internet challenge to anyone reading this today. Go ONE day without criticizing someone online. And if it feels good, hey, why not go TWO DAYS. But let’s start with one for the overzealous out there. #onedayatatime #onlylove

However, the name of the challenge she wants to call it, it not appropriate, as it involves a cuss word. So I removed that part out of her quote. Yes, I know I just criticized her on that. However, I also had to warn you since this is a Christian Blog.

But I will say a nice think about Pink. I think it wasnice for her wanting people to stop criticizing others, her included.

To stop criticizing others we do need to ask God to change us.

When we criticize others, we look down on them. Part of this challenge is saying nice things about others instead of tearing them down. This includes encouraging them! Lifting them up. That is edifying!

Ways to stop criticizing

Here is another side of criticism …

Most of us chafe at criticism, especially if it is delivered bluntly and concerning matters which hit close to home. We are also prone to bristle if the person is criticizing us on moral matters and isn’t him- or herself a model of rectitude. But if we really want to improve then we should strive to find the kernel of truth in every criticism. We often take instruction and criticism to be inherently negative, but if it enables us to improve in some way then there is really something valuable in it. If we can somehow receive it with an open heart and genuinely thank the person giving it to us, then they are more likely to do us the favor of correcting future errors as well. We live in an era where everyone expects to get an A in their classes and a trophy for their athletic efforts, and so honest criticism is often lacking, and the result is that a lot of mediocre performances get high marks and many have lost the ability to receive instruction and criticism graciously. There is some grain of truth in almost every criticism, so seek to learn from it.
