Steering Wheel or Spare Tire?

I like this graphic that I saw on Facebook. This graphic I believe came from The Time-Warp Wife. That is at least the watermark used on the graphic. I wanted to share it with my readers and share a blog entry on it as well. The quote on this graphic is from Corrie Ten Boom and reads:

Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tire?

Is Prayer Your Steering Wheel or Spare Tire?
Is Prayer Your Steering Wheel or Spare Tire?

Do we only pray when we need to? Then we are only using prayer as our spare tire. Do we pray all the time, for all things, prayer without ceasing. If that case it would be the steering wheel. Allow prayer to steer you to God and give your concerns, thanksgivings, and all to God. Be in constant communication with God. He is there always. Don’t just pray when you need Him.

You know the same can be true for our Bibles, going to church, etc.

Do we only go to church when we are in need or read the Bible only when we are in need and use the Bible and Church like a spare tire? Or are we faithful to read all the time and go to church all the time.

16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17

This analogy can go on and on with many parts of our walk with Christ. Let us always keep our walk with Christ like a steering wheel and never a spare tire! Let the Holy Spirit be your guide as Christ died to send it as our helper. I first published this July 2, 2013. I am republishing this February 23, 2015 and adding it to the Road Signs of the Bible Series.
