My mom always had a fascination with snowmen. She even helped my daughter and I make one when my daughter was a young kid, maybe 20 years ago or so.

Mom never really shared with me why she liked the snowman. Maybe it is because she grew up in Michigan and made them when she was a little girl.

Since she has passed away we found a good bit of snowman decor. I think seeing a snowman will remind me of my mom.

The snowman is a popular beloved winter season characters perhaps making fame from a classic Christmas song and Christmas TV special.

The classic Christmas song, “Frosty the Snowman” was writing by Steve Nelson and Jack Rollins in 1950.

Later came the 1969 TV special “Frosty the Snowman” was produced by Arthur Rankin Jr. and Jules Bass. I always enjoyed watching this tv special growing up. I still do!

Then the next famous snowman came about from the Disney’s “Frozen” … Olaf in 2013.

Some other famous snowmen:

  • Sam the Snowman from “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” (1964)
  • The Snowman from “The Snowman” (1982)
  • Jack Frost from “Jack Frost” he was a snowman brought to life (1998)
  • Leon the Snowman from “Elf” (2003)
  • Snow Golome from “Mindcraft” (2011)

In order to make a snowman, you need snow. I do not like snow. It’s too cold. I do not like being that cold. Brrrr! So, I’ll stick to the inside home decor snowman besides my snowmen never turned out. They always reminded me of Pig-Pen from the Peanuts gang … all dirty. That might be because you don’t get too much snow in Tennessee.

If you want to make a snowman you’ll need wet snow. Here’s why:

  • Stickiness: Wet snow has a bit of moisture, which acts like a natural glue, allowing the snowballs to stick together and form a sturdy snowman.
  • Moldability: The slight dampness makes the snow pliable, so you can easily shape it into the desired form for the snowman’s body and head.

If the snow is too dry and powdery, it won’t stick together well, and your snowman will crumble. On the other hand, if the snow is too wet and slushy, it will be difficult to shape and may not hold its form.

I was sick on Thanksgiving and my wife got me this Snowman Duck we named it Frost Feathers.

I gave a Snowman Duck to this Jeep. It sad Merry Christmas. Since my mom loved snowmen. I did this is in memory of her, Paula Elaine Klaus Patterson. I also have the same Duck for myself, I named mine Frostwing Duck.

I will forever be remind of my mom when I see a snowman. Being Christmas season and seeing snowmen everywhere.
