Do you think a marriage license should have a renewal or expiration date, just like a driver’s license?
Should Marriage license expire?
I actually do not think you should have an expiration date for a marriage like you do for a drivers license. Marriages are meant to be for life. You made a vow to God until death do you part. Granted a lot of marriages do end in divorce, but still not a reason to have an expiration date. This is while we have lawyers to get a divorce. Thank goodness we have a forgiving Lord. We all have sinned and caused our current, prior, past marriages to fail for some reason or another.
Yes, I am divorced, and do plan to get remarried again one day. This time around, it will be for life. I do not plan to get divorced, I am in it for the long haul. This commitment will be true. I will be marrying for true love this time. When I remarry, I wouldn’t want that symbol of love to expire.
Making an expiration date on marriages makes an expiration date on love. If you have true love, then it will never expire.
So what do you think? I would love to hear your input on expiration dates of marriages.
This was a writers block question I saw while I went to my old LiveJournal account. There was no contributing LJ user for this questions.
I enjoy listening to nothing but Christian Music. Camping and hiking is something that I enjoy. I guess that is because I am an Eagle Scout. Blogging is something I enjoy doing too. I have been blogging since 2004. However, I have been blogging on Courageous Christian Father since 2012. I am married with 1 daughter and 2 step-sons and a step daughter.
