Sharper than any two-edged sword

This is the 6th Day of International Bible Week. Today’s focus is on the Word of God being sharper than any two-edged sword. Focused from Hebrews 4:12. For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Hebrews 4:12
Hebrews 4:12

These verse lets us know that God’s Word, the Bible, is living. One reason as I mentioned in a previous post, are God Breathed. The God Breathed is what makes it living, what also makes it living is our God and Savoir is living. He lives with us, he walks with us, he talks with us. That is why we have a personal relationship with Him.

God Word is sharper than any two-edged sword. God’s Word is the strong Word there is. He can get to the deepest, darkest, hardest spots. It conquers evil.  Another reason it is sharp, it hurts when it corrects us. This hurting is to help change us into the Christ like person we need to be.

This piercing goes deep like I said, it goes so far to reach our soul to help correct our soul. Our soul is the part that has the eternal value. Our soul is what makes us in the inside. Heart is the center most part of the body, it has the main function of keeping the body alive. Without a heart beat, we long longer live a fleshly life. Heart pumps the blood and gets it to everywhere it needs. So with it penetrating even the heart, it goes to our core inner person to help change us.

It pierces us so we will walk the way we should, go the path God wants for us to go.

If you are being corrected by this sharp piercing two-edged sword, take it that God loves you and He is correcting you. God loves those who he Corrects. Use this sword also to help rebuke sin.

God’s Word is final. God has the last say. He Word is never changing. His Word has always been and always will. It will endure forever. It is a great treasure. This is part of the Armor of God.

  1. You are so right. What a wonderful message to raise our children with too. The more we imprint these Words on their hearts, the more protection it will provide them in the long run. Thanks for posting!

    1. Thanks so much for the comment. Yes, we must raise our children up in the ways of the Lord. More we study the more we gain wisdom, Godly wisdom. Thanks for the comment on Facebook on how I used correction instead of punishment. God Bless and thanks for reading.

  2. The term “God-breathed” takes me back to the Garden of Eden where the Lord Himself breathed life into the nostrils of Adam and then he “became a living being.” While other animals had life, only human beings have the life of God within them. Similarly, there are plenty of other books that have good information, but only the Bible has the life of God breathed in it. That’s what sets it apart and makes it powerful! Thanks Steve!

    1. That is awesome thing to think about Karen. Yes, God Breathed the life into Adam, just like His Word. The breathing of the Word is what makes it living. 🙂 Yes, that shows animals have no soul, that they do not go to heaven or hell, like we humans do. Only the Bible is true Word. That is why it is important. Thanks for the comment Karen. I greatly appreciated it.

  3. When we allow the piercing of the sword of the Lord to cut away the fleshly attitudes and characteristics we begin to really grow in our walk and relationship with God. I pray that more and more we would learn the cutting and the fire are not to be feared for it is there in the refining fire with the sword blazing that the presence of the Lord is.

    1. Yes, my pastor calls that sheering, like you sheer a sheep. We may not like it but it will help to mold us and make us better. It is only by fire we are refined like gold. That is how we are tested. Like Abraham and with his son.
