Say goodbye to Fort Kid. Yes, Fort Kid at the World’s Fair Park is set to be torn down. This once iconic place for kids to play will soon no longer be around. #FortKid
The City of Knoxville will demolish a rotting retaining wall at Fort Kid and replace it with a grassy slope. They city has allocated $300,000 to repair this retaining wall. By doing this, it will require a large portion of the playground to be removed and no plans to replace it either.
Fort Kid plans to stay open throughout the summer, but if the retaining wall gets worse, it could close down earlier.
Last month, we posted they planed to upgrade Fort Kid, but that has now changed.
