Proverbs 21 – As part of the 31 Day Proverbs Challenge, I am doing one chapter per day for 31 days since there are 31 chapters also in the Book of Proverbs. This is day 21 of 31, therefore I am focusing on Proverbs 21.
Today read the whole chapter of Proverbs 21.
One of the verses that stand out to me in this Proverbs 21:2. Today we live in a world where they believe their way is right. They don’t want to see the truth. I think because the truth requires a change. People don’t want to change. We may see one thing as good or
We must remember God sees us by our heart not by our eyes like man. God’s concerned with the heart condition. Man may think their way of thinking is right, but it isn’t. But, God is the only one that truly knows each persons heart. You can be fake around people, but God knows the fake from the real.
Proverbs 21:3 tells us the God will accept us being righteous over any sacrifice. As sacrifice is an outward expression.
Proverbs 21, tells us some things considered sin. A haughty look meaning being prideful or showing a proud look. A form of boasting. A proud heart it also says, showing a lack of restraint. It also says plowing the wicked. I believe this could mean putting down or doing bad to evil. That is because we are to do good to the enemy and show love.
Proverbs 21, again talks about lying and deception. This is not how we are suppose to gain anything by. If we do this it will lead to death. Death in this case meaning hell, everlasting death and torture.
If you are a guilty person you are perverse, meaning you are deceptive, a cheat or liar. If you are pure and honest then your way is right. To be pure is to be Christ-like. He is the only one that was and is pure.
Verse 9, Proverbs 21:9, has been a popular verse too. Better to dwell in a corner of a housetop, Than in a house shared with a contentious woman. In ancient Israel they had flat roofs. It was possible to build or make shelter on top of one. But the inside of the house was better to suited to live. But this was saying that if in that house you had a bitter or nagging woman in it, that it was more comfortable to live on the roof than inside with that woman.
If you are a wicked person you will desire evil things. Wicked and evil things are sin, things that go against the Will of God.
Proverbs 21, also tells us that when a wise person is instructed they gain knowledge. This knowledge and wisdom is a godly wisdom and knowledge.
I believe Proverb 21 tells us if we tune out the poor persons plea and cries that when it comes time for your need no one will hear your plea or cry.
Proverbs 21, talks about bribes being bad as well. If you practice evil destruction will occur. If you wander away from Gods understanding it will lead to death.
If you love pleasures , I believe things that fill the flesh and not the Spirit, sin, will cause you to be poor, maybe not poor on earth but in other aspects. On the other hand it also takes money to fulfill those pleasures. If you over spend on them instead of your needs than that can lead you poor too. People tend to buy things they want and not need, leaving their needs left behind. Needs are essentials to live by, like food, water, shelter and such.
[pullquote]”Whoever guards his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from troubles.” Proverbs 21:23[/pullquote]
Again this Proverb talks about living with an angry woman. It says its better to live in the wilderness than an angry bitter woman, just like being on the house top or the roof. This person causes aggravation.
If you follow mercy and righteousness (Things of God, Gods way) you will find life, meaning Heaven. Remember Jesus is only one righteous so we ought to see Him and be covered in His blood that was shed on Calvary.
This Proverbs talks about holding your tongue, a guarding of what you say or don’t say. If you are one that bites their tongue as the expression is used will keep you out of trouble. We all k now those who freely speak their mind usually gets themselves or others in trouble. Our tongue is a powerful weapon. Click here to read about The Tongue.
Again pride and arrogance is mentioned. God doesn’t like pride. Pride is a selfish act.
If you are lazy and don’t work that will kill you. It is important for us to labor or work.
If you are wicked and make a sacrifice that is an abomination to God. Wicked hearts and intents taints the sacrifice, maybe you do it because you have to. Its a heart condition and the heart isn’t in it. These type of sacrifices are done in vain and with the wrong heart. That is why we must confess and repent of our sins before we do anything for the Lord.
Again lying is mentioned again. Talks about lying about another person, false witness. It says that person will perish. To perish is die, an everlasting death. Lying is one thing that God cannot stand.
Proverbs 21, let’s us know that we cannot get wisdom or understanding but with God. We must have a reverence type of fear. No one else can give it us and nothing else compares to the wisdom given by God.
