Priesthood of all Believers

This is the third talk along my Walk to Emmaus. If you just landed to my blog for the first I have been sharing some notes from My Walk to Emmaus in 1998.

This Talk was done by Robert Grimes

Our attitudes as Christians is not to complain, but to come up with resolutions!

18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.

(2 Corinthians 5:18-20)

Paul said all of this is from God.

As Christians we need to reconcile and be Christ’s ambassadors. We need to stand with Christ and for Christ. Set a Christlike example. Don’t be passive (not reacting visibly to something that might be expected to produce manifestations of an emotion or feeling. *dictionary.com), be helpers in solutions!

Priesthood of All Believers: We are God’s representatives for people in the world. Be experienced in love, acceptance, forgiveness of God and help others experience it too. Set an example of Christlike.

*Side note, did you know the Walk to Emmaus for those in prison is called a Kairos. Where they minister and get the prisoners saved.

All believers are to share in the priesthood. We are to witness to everyone. It doesn’t matter who they are, etc.

4 As you come to him, the living Stone —rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— 5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

(1 Peter 2:4-5)

We are called to share the Good News (Word of God). What God has done for us. Christ laid down his life for us to have God’s Grace.

What we expect isn’t what God expects. The Bible tells us what God expects from us. How to live and much more. Our mission is to make Christ real for people. A Church is a ministry of love, not a building.

Characteristics

  1. Personal – Start with yourself, natural
  2. Spiritual – Wholeness of life, right now, God’s will
  3. Servant Oriented – Act of authority of God. (John 13:3-5)
  4. Shared – You are not alone, you cannot accomplish by yourself.
  5. Best – God gave us the best — Jesus Christ, his son who died on the Cross for our sins.

Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.

(John 13:3-5)

Evangelism is not like that on T.V. Looks don’t make an evangelist or a priest. Don’t limit yourself. Come together under an umbrella of Christ. Being under the umbrella is receiving God’s grace. We never know who is under the umbrella. So go out and share the Word of God and what God has done for you. Most important share that Christ died for our sins so we can have eternal life through Him.
