Pet Theft Awareness Day is observed annually on February 14th since 1988 and started by started by the Last Chance for Animals.

It is estimated that 2 million pets are stolen each year. That is in America alone, not worldwide!

The 2 main reasons pets are typically stolen is for monetary gain and for illegal animal fights.
