Parents stop telling your children …

I saw this graphic on Facebook the other day. I reflected a little bit on it and figured I would share with you on my blog. This graphic reads, “Parents please stop telling your children that we will haul them off to jail if they are bad. We want them to run to us if they are scared … NOT be scared of US. THANK YOU!” This is on the graphic that has been circulating around on Facebook. It is part of the Rosenberg Police Department’s Public Service Announcement. What I can gather, Rosenberg is in Texas.

I saw this graphic and knew I had to share. We know we as parents are guilty of saying that, even our parents were. But I think it is a good idea that we don’t. We don’t want our children scared of the police or even running from the police.

Researching this it seems there is a general poster for Thin Blue Line police-related organization about this. This message is uses throughout many police departments. A lot of police I am sure here stuff like this all the time. As parents we may not even think about it before we say it. 

Let us teach and show our kids how to respect the law.
