Some speculation is the fire is from some renovations currently going on in the cathedral. The roof has collapses as part of the fire. At this time, there is no known cause of the fire.

Police and government officials are asking people to stay clear of the area for safety. At this time, there is no word of any injuries of deaths either.

This cathedral dates back to the 12th Century (period from 1101 to 1200 in accordance with the Julian calendar in the Common Era). That makes this cathedral around 800 something years old.

French media quoted the Paris fire brigade saving the fire is “potentially linked” to a 6 million-euro ($6.8 million) renovation project on the church’s spire and its 250 tons of lead.

Update April 16, 2019:

Reports are stating that all the wood inside has burned. Well, all but the wooden cross at the alter inside.

So far, one firefighter has been injured.

People outside watching the fire, they were singing hymns.

There is another report that the crown of thorns were saved too. The claim is these are the actual crown of thorns worn by Jesus Christ.

Update April 17, 2019:

The cross that survived was gold. It may have been gold covered. The crown of thorns saved, was also gold covered.

The Great Organ was said to survive too. It has been around since the medieval days.

The roof was totally damaged. Most of the wooden structures were made from oak trees. Very big oak trees. Today, we do not have oak trees that big.

It is estimated it will cost in the billions of dollars to restore. However, it won’t be restored to its original state. It has also been reported that donations totaling in the millions have already been given for the rebuild. Including two millionaires that conflict each other.

The attic was known as the forest. From this fire, it seemed it burned like one too.

Tunic of Saint Louis was saved.

The copper rooster was recovered.

Many of the artworks were taken to the Luvre Art Gallery by means of the gallery or their storage facility, among them a large painting series known as the “Mays de Notre Dame”.

The win bell towers has survived. It is the second tallest structure in Paris, followed by the Eiffel Tower.

All three rose windows appear to have been saved.

French media reported that a fragment of the True Cross and one of the Holy Nails were saved.

Update April 18, 2019

Some people are claiming to see images of Jesus in the cathedral fire.

Even some Baptist Churches in America, that burned or was on fire are starting to see donations to help rebuild that church.

Update April 19, 2019

It was reported the 180,000 bees stored in one of the roofs were not harmed.

As more details come in, I will try my best to update this blog post. Last updated April 17, 2019.
