National Teacher Day

Teacher Appreciation Week 2020 is from Monday, May 4 to Friday, May 8, 2020. During that week is National Teacher Day. In, 2020 it falls on Tuesday, May 5

National Teacher Day or known as National Teacher Appreciated Day, is Held the first Tuesday of the first full week of May.  While National Teacher Week or known as Teacher Appreciation Week is held the first full week of May.

There is a reason why School Principals’ Day is before National Teacher Day. That way the school Principal will remember which teachers did something for them. LOL Just kidding.  Local communities and organizations are encouraged to use this opportunity to honor those who influence and inspire the next generation through their work.

I believe this celebration falls the first full week in May with the National Teacher Day being that Tuesday of that full week. According to WikiPediaCongress declared 7 March 1980 as National Teacher Day for that year only. The NEA and its affiliates continued to observe Teacher Day on the first Tuesday in March until 1985, when the National PTA established Teacher Appreciation Week in the first full week of May.

This day is celebrated in different days of the year in other countries.

A special salute and thanks to all teachers everywhere! Not just those teaching elementary, middle school or high school. I would like to also thank those professors at colleges and universities too.

Thank a Teacher

Be sure to thank your teacher for being your teacher. Use this day to take a picture of your teacher or teachers and post them on social media with the hashtags #ThankATeacher.

  1. I just wish that more teachers were concerned about their students education than their paycheck. A lot of students today don’t have teachers willing to stay after school to help out their students.

    1. I agree. It seems any more most teach to test. As in teach for state test. After that, often seems like don’t do much more in classes after the state tests. However, there are still some that are “true teachers”.
