National Jerky Day

June 12 each year is National Jerky Day! On this day I would love to thank God for giving us meat to eat and the ability to dry it out to make beef jerky. Aside from living on the bread of God (Word of God), I could also live off just eating beef jerky I believe.

So eat up some yummy beef jerky or other flavors of jerky today. Share it with the family!

“In many ways, jerky is an ideal snack. Naturally packed with protein, jerky will keep you satiated between meals; but since it’s low in fat, calories and carbs, it won’t sabotage a healthy diet,”

Jeff LeFever, director of marketing for Jack Link’s® Beef Jerky, the No. 1 U.S. meat snack brand.

Not only do I like beef jerky but I do enjoy venison jerky (deer jerky). I am sure I would love any other kind of jerky made too. Jerky just means the meat when through a dehydrating method.

National Jerky Day, an “unofficial” National holiday was created by Jack Link’s Beef Jerky in 2012. (According to National Day Calendar | Beef Jerky Day)

The downside of jerky is that is can be high in sodium, since salt is used to help prevent bacterial growth during the dehydrating method.

I really love Beef Jerky and Venison Jerky (Deer Jerky).
