National Day of Reason

National Day of Reason – In response to National Day of Prayer the secular humanist, atheist, secularist and freethinkers created this secular celebration. #DayReason

National Day of Reason

National Day of Reason

This day is also held on the first Thursday of May, just like National Day of Prayer. As many of these humanist group believe the National Day of Prayer is unconstitutional. The purpose of the National Day of Reason is to “celebrate reason—a concept all Americans can support—and to raise public awareness about the persistent threat to religious liberty posed by government intrusion into the private sphere of worship.”

The National Day of Reason was created by the American Humanist Association and the Washington Area Secular Humanists in 2003.

As Christians we must know we have a freedom of religion, not freedom from religion. These groups also have a freedom to speak up too just like we do. But, remember we answer to God on judgement day. Including these humanist groups. One thing to note, we are not speaking up for beliefs, like the secular world is speaking up.

In short this day was created to try to get rid of or counter National Day of Prayer and other religious days like them.
