D.A.R.E. is a substance abuse prevention education and more. It involves students, teachers, educators, parents, police and more. However, D.A.R.E. is a police officer-led series of classroom lessons that teaches children from kindergarten through 12th grade how to resist peer pressure and live productive drug and violence-free lives.

The acronym of D.A.R.E. is.

  • Drug
  • Abuse
  • Resistance
  • Education

The D.A.R.E. program started in 1983, while I was still in school. I remember having D.A.R.E. programs come and talk to our school. It actually started in Los Angeles, CA. It had proven success too. It is police-officer led in classroom lessons. It teaches children form kindergarten through 12th grade about peer pressure and live productive drug and violence-free lives.

D.A.R.E. still around, it’s in every state in America, as well as around 52 other countries around the world. It currently is in about 75 percent of our nation’s schools.
