National Chicken Wing Day

Chicken Wing Day

Whether you like them hot and spicy, sticky sweet or plain Jane and whether your prefer them served with blue cheese, ranch, plum sauce or celery sticks. Not to mention, chicken wings have to be the most versatile protein on the planet.

Americans have been attesting to this fact, gobbling up wings by the boat-load with more than 27 billion eaten in 2013 and 1.23 billion wings consumed during Super Bowl weekend alone. That’s over 100-million pounds of wings. To give you some idea of what that looks like picture the chicken wings laid out end to end — they’d circle the perimeter of the Earth not once but twice!

This day was rightfully proclaimed in 1977 by Buffalo Mayor Stan Makowski according to the National Chicken Wing Day web site.

You can make your own Chicken Wings or go somewhere like Wild Wing Cafe, Wing Zone, Buffalo Wild Wings and Quaker Steak and Lube. Plus there are many, many more places you can go to get some delicious chicken wings too. Not to mention, Pizza joints has chicken wings too like Domino’s, Papa John’s, Pizza Hut and more.

Some of these wing places may offer discounts at participating locations like Buffalo Wild Wings, says half price wings this day. Of course this is at participating locations and I am sure there are restrictions and limitations. You will have to see the store for details too.

I know I enjoyed Wild Wing Cafe, but the closest one is over an hour drive from me in Farragut, TN. (West Knoxville area). I have heard people who liked Quaker Steak and Lube wings. Others I have heard like Buffalo Wild Wings. So everyone has different taste, so go where you enjoy your chicken wings!

My favorite Chicken Wings!

As for my favorites they are Good Ole Days in Morristown, TN and Big Kahuna’s in West Knoxville, TN. They have 60 cent wings on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

I prefer the flats over the drumsticks.

Maybe you can use this day as fellowship event or even maybe to witness to people and hand out gospel tracts. Make it a family date night too!

Speaking of Chicken Wings, Middlesboro has a Wingfest every August.

Where do you like chicken wings from and how do you like your chicken wings?
