National American Teddy Bear Day

National American Teddy Bear Day - Yet another day for the beloved teddy bear.

Teddy Got His Name From a Former President!

In 1902, American President Theodore Roosevelt refused to shoot a bear cub while hunting in Mississippi.

Held Annual on November 14th

This incident made national news. Clifford Berryman published a cartoon of the event in the Washington Post on November 16th, 1902.  The caricature became an instant classic. It inspired a New York store owner Morris Michtom to create a new toy.  Morris Michtom wrote President Roosevelt to ask permission to name the new toy a “Teddy Bear”.

This is a great day to take show off your lovable cuddly stuffed bear. Share with us his or her name.

Maybe post a picture or two of you and your teddy bear on social media. Use some kind of hashtag like #TeddyBear or #TeddyBearDay etc.

Not that long ago was Hug a Bear Day!

However, National Teddy Bear is September 9 of each year. Notice one of the days has American Teddy Bear and the other is National Teddy Bear.

Coming soon is Have a Party with your Teddy Bear!
