It was my first camping trip with the Boy Scouts. They all said they wanted to take us snipe hunting, so we will know what it was like.

We go into the woods. Were were in like three teams, as there were three of us on our first night trip. I hear a commotion, and then someone wrestling a trash bag. Next thing I know, I was pushed onto of the trash bag.

We were told, you can only catch the snipe and then you had to release it. Then the boys on my team open the bag and you could see feathers and blood. They go up to me and began to tell me that I killed it and I will go to jail.

The other two boys, had a similar experience on their hunt. We all three stayed up all night wondering when the police would come and get us.

We wake up in the morning and the Scoutmaster asked if we all got sleep? We all said no we didn’t. We were waiting for the police to come and get us. That is when you can hear the other boys laughing and the Scoutmaster then said welcome to the troop boys. This was just a prank.

Of course, then hazing seemed to happen a lot in the Scouts. From what I been told you cannot do anything like that.

The scoutmaster showed us, it was just feathers, old chicken meat and barbecue sauce.

Yes a snipe is real, but a snipe hunt is not real. It is a fools joke or prank usually played on others.
