My End Stinks

My End Stinks
My End Stinks

I got your attention with the title of this blog entry didn’t I? Jerry the other youth leader at church when someone says my instinct tells me to go this way. He tells us about a joke about a cat and a skunk. The cat says to the skunk my instinct tells me to go this way. The skunk replies funny my end stinks but it didn’t tell me to go that way.

Below was taken from google search.

in·stinct

noun
noun: instinct; plural noun: instincts
ˈinstiNG(k)t/
  1. 1.
an innate, typically fixed pattern of behavior in animals in response to certain stimuli.
birds have an instinct to build nests”

adjective

formal
adjective: instinct
inˈstiNGkt/
  1. 1.
imbued or filled with (a quality, especially a desirable one).
“these canvases are instinct with passion”

Even the Bible talks about people acting out of instinct.

So basically it is an impulse or acting without thinking. We as sinners often find that we often act without thinking. But does that always do us good? I am sure most of the time it stinks, cause it leads us down a bad road.Like in 2 Peter 2:1-22.

for when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves, Romans 2:14

Read the whole context for the above verse in Romans 2:1-16.

Jude 1:10 tells us that instinct can cause us to slander other people, the way that animals do. When you slander people that will make your end stink too. Make sure you read the whole book of Jude. Don’t worry it is a short book in the Bible, only one chapter.

We must be staying the the Word and not going on instinct. In the End Instinct will destroy you. That odor is not one that you want to keep with you.

  1. Well short written POST, and to the point!  And you certainly don’t have to stand out in a crowd to have IN-STINK; your aroma follow follow in whatever the surroundings.  You bring it with you wherever you go!

  2. MelThompson1 That is so true. That aroma you are putting off if it stinks its because of rotten fruit. They say proof is in the pudding for those who are saved. But if you don’t bare good fruit, that bad fruit will rot and stink. Just like when we follow our instincts. Thanks for the comment Mel.

  3. You are too funny! What a way to get out a Christian message. I bet the children you minister to thoroughly enjoy your lessons.

  4. Thanks that came to me on Wednesday night when somebody was tell me about your instincts and I was telling about the joke about another youth leaders that works with our youth who would tell us the story about the skunk and the skunks end stinks. Thanks for the comment.

  5. Nice post! We should always be in the Word so we know how God would have us handle a situation that needs fast-thinking and quick decision making.

  6. Really enjoyed your post Steve, I have learned that God has created us with certain desires (instincts) for a reason. In Genesis 1:28 He provided man and woman with the desire to help Him populate the earth. However, without His guidance in sexual conduct that instinct is very destructive. Thanks for sharing my friend.

  7. Darren the Disciple Yes staying in the Word would help us to know what to do in those fast thinking situations to where our ends won’t stink. Thanks for the comment Darren.

  8. Walter Kahler But when you don’t use Biblical instincts it will make it stink, it will be like producing rotten fruit. Yes, all bad instincts lead to destruction. Thanks for the comment Walter.

  9. I think we will always have that pull within us to be drawn to the flesh (Rom 7) but we don’t have to give in.  “Who will save us from this body of death?”  We can say with Paul “Thanks be to God – through Jesus Christ Our Lord!”

  10. @Karen We are driven by the flesh in these sinful bodies. I am so glad that when we go to Heaven to be forever with our Savior we will have a Glorified Body that of the liking of Jesus that will be controlled by the Spirit and not the flesh. No we do not have to give in. We have choices every day. To Accept Jesus or Reject Jesus. To Follow His Commands or Not To Follow His Commands. We have to make the choice, but we also have to answer to the choices we do or don’t do. We must remember we can only do things according to His will with the help of Jesus, not on our own. Thanks for the comment Karen. God Bless.
