Maple Syrup Saturday
This day is celebrated the third Saturday in March. I am grateful for God for creating Maple Syrup for us to enjoy. Maple Syrup is the xylem sap that comes out of Maple Trees, more so the Sugar Maple, Red Maple or Black Maple Trees. You usually will see a tap in the tree to drain the sap.
According to WikiPedia, These trees store starch in their trunks and roots before the winter; the starch is then converted to sugar that rises in the sap in late winter and early spring. Maple trees are tapped by drilling holes into their trunks and collecting the exuded sap, which is processed by heating to evaporate much of the water, leaving the concentrated syrup.
I prefer Maple Syrup over pancake or artificial syrup any day. I love it on French Toast and Waffles.
Now Maple Syrup Day is in December, However the third Saturday of March is Maple Syrup Saturday. I couldn’t find out more about when this day got started or any thing else about it. But many places celebrate with special breakfast meals. I did see many states do Maple Syrup Weekend different weekends throughout the month of March. Michigan for example, does one weekend for Southern Michigan. Another one for Northern Lower and yet another one for the Upper Peninsula (U.P.).
My daughter even got to visit a Maple Syrup Farm in Michigan when she was 5-6 Years Old.
