This is the fifth of six parts that tie with Talk #6 (Growth Through Study). In The Bible on the Bible series marks our fifth session on Jesus and the Hoy Scriptures. John 14:21
21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”
Jesus completely aligned His life and will with the Father’s. That shows his total allegiance to the Father’s Word and commandments. He also said He disapproved of any attitude that would reduce respect for or teach less than full obedience to the entirety of God’s revealed Word. (See Matthew 5:17-19). He explicitly links His disciples’ love for Him as Savior with their will to keep His commandments, we conclude Jesus’ clear intent:
If we love Him, we will love His Father’s Word also
Our Lord declares that the knowledge of the Scriptures is the pathway to knowing Him well. Further, upon His resurrection on the Walk to Emmaus, He unveiled the fullness of His Own Person as revealed in the Old Testament. (See John 5:39 and also Luke 24:27)
