Below is a video segment from A Charlie Brown Christmas.  Charlie Brown asked if anyone can tell him what Christmas is really about and Linus van Pelt (his full name) gives it to him real. He breaks out scripture to explain about Jesus’s birth as found in Luke 2:8-14.

A Charlie Brown Christmas and all other Peanuts gang shows no longer air on ABC, it is now owned by Apple TV.

8And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
9And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
10And the angel said unto them, Fear not; for, behold, I bring you tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.
12And this shall be a sign unto you: Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
13And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
14Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace and goodwill towards men.”
“…That’s what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown.

Linus puts down his security blanket

Take note as you watch this video. Linus is always with his security blanket in all of the Charlie Brown (Peanuts) cartoons. He even still has the blanket as a head piece when playing the shepherd. But watch as he explains Christmas … He sets down his security blanket to explain the true meaning of Christmas is the birth of Jesus Christ. He knows true security is found in Jesus Christ and know thing else not even that blanket.

He actually drops it when he says “Fear Not!”

Did you know that 2015 marked the 50th Anniversary of A Charlie Brown Christmas? God sure did use Charles M. Schulz in these Peanut’s characters. I know this was a bold move for him when this aired in 1965. The great thing, 50 years later.

I did happen to watch two Charlie Brown / Peanut shows and I noticed Linus didn’t have his blanket in a couple of those. Mayflower Voyager a scene in Play it Again, Charlie Brown. But, everywhere else, he is always shown with his blanket.
