John 4 - Today is day four of the 21 Day of Gospel of John Challenge. So today read the fourth chapter of the Gospel of John. #John4

There are 54 verses in the fourth chapter of John. There are 4 headings. Jesus Goes to Galilee, The Woman of Samaria, The Samaritans and Healing a Nobleman’s Son.

It starts off about the disciples were baptizing and then Jesus heading off to Galilee. God had a plan and purpose to go through Samaria. Normally Jewish people would go the long way around instead of the short-cut to avoid going through Samaria. The Jews and Samaritans hated each other.

But Jesus went that way for the purpose of the woman at the well. BTW, Jesus spoke to the woman at the well alone, really considered taboo for one he was male and she was female and the other the race difference (Jews and Samaritans).

Jesus knew all about her and what she had done. He talked to her and offered her living water. His talking to her led her to be saved. Plus, she left and told to come meet the man who knew all about me. That caused others to be saved too.

From that city many of the Samaritans believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, “He told me all the things that I have done.”

John 4:39

Also note, the woman left her waterpot at the well to go tell the town about Jesus. She didn’t take it with her.

Also note, Jesus stayed there two more days. That is very rare for Jewish people to stay there or even pass through that town.

So God’s plan and purpose for that was to save people in that town.

Jesus goes back to the town where he turned water into wine. A royal official saw him and asked Him to heal his son who was sick to the point of death.

People were only believing when they saw the wonders and miracles.

So Jesus said to him, “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you simply will not believe.”

John 4:48

Jesus didn’t even go to the royal officials home to touch his son to heal Him. Instead, Jesus told the royal official to go that his son will be healed. That royal official believed what Jesus said and left. While he was leaving, some of his slaves meet him and told him about the miracle of his son.

The royal official even inquired when his son was healed. The slaved told him the time and that royal official knew that was the same time Jesus said his son will live. That whole household began to believe because of that miracle.

God is always in the saving businesses. Miracles still happen today. God can bring healing. We might not get that healing on Earth, but we will get healing in Heaven with the gloried new body.
