John 11 - This is Day 11 of the 21 Day Gospel of John Challenge. Read the 11th Chapter of Gospel of John. #John11 #Bgb2

This chapter has 57 verses and has two headers.

1. The Death and Resurrection of Lazarus

Verses 1-46. This is a familiar story to most of us. Where Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead. As we know Jesus was not there where Lazarus was. Not to mention, when Jesus got word about it. He even waited a few more days.

I might add, Jesus already knew about Lazarus. Because the raising of Lazarus was for the glory of God.

Jesus and the disciples traveled at night from what I read. That is because, as we remember in John 10, they were wanting to stone Him.

Mind you Lazarus was in the tomb for four days. I am sure there has to be a stench in the tomb from the body. Even with the appointments, they put on a body.

This is where Jesus says …

“I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die.

John 11:25-26

One day, we, the Children of God, will be resurrected too. We will have our eternal life with Him in Heaven.

Lazarus even came forth when Jesus called for him. This could be seen as irresistible grace. That is because Lazarus didn’t hesitate, Lazarus came forth. It was immediate. He was still in his burial clothes.

Of course, Jesus had some snitches. They went and told about raising Lazarus from the dead to the Pharisees.

2. Conspiracy to Kill Jesus

The Pharisees and Jews were jealous of Jesus because of the stuff he has one and the following Jesus received. The attention was off of them and now onto Jesus. They didn’t want all men to believe in Him.

A man named Caiaphas, who was a high priest that year, stated he prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the nation and not for the nation only, but in order that He might also gather together into one the children of God.

This is where the planning took place to seek out on how to kill Jesus. At that point Jesus was no longer out in public like He was before.

This was during the time of Passover. The chief priest was wondering if He would show up for Passover. If anyone spotted Him, they were to seize Him.
