International STAND UP to Bullying Day – an awareness holiday to raise awareness against bullying. #Bullying #StandUptoBullyingDay Click To TweetAccording to stopbullying.gov – Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time. Both kids who are bullied and who bully others may have serious, lasting problems.
Those taking a STAND is asked to wear a pink “pledge shirt” or a pink shirt in general.
The first occurance was in February 2008. However, it has been reported that David Shepherd and Travis Price founded this day in 2007.Both of which were Nova Scotian 12th graders that year. Both these Seniors bought 50 pink shirts at a discount store. They emailed their classmates and urged them to get and wear pink shirts. The went and created a “sea of pink” to support the bullied student.
