If Jesus had an Obituary – We often place an obituary for someone that died …  I saw this on a fellow Facebook friend’s wall in 2012. The author is unknown. If you know who wrote this, please let me know so I can give proper credit for this. These points point out points that are found within the Bible. I hope that you find encouragement within these words to help you stay on God’s narrow path.

If Jesus had an Obituary

Before we go to If Jesus had an Obituary lets look at what one is. The first part of the word is latin, Obit meaning death. Obituaries announce the deaths of loved ones since the 18th Century. With some findings showing as early as the 16th century. Including some Obituaries in the 19th century were written in verse format that such as poetry. (Obituaries were not around in the time of Jesus!) Again this is just this unknown authors point of view on what the obituary of Jesus could have read back then. It would not have been in English either!

Jesus Christ, 33, of Nazareth, died Friday on Mount Calvary, also known as Golgotha, the place of the skull. Betrayed by the Apostle Judas, Jesus was crucified by the Romans, by order of the Ruler Pontius Pilate. The causes of death were crucifixion, extreme exhaustion, severe torture, and loss of blood.

Jesus Christ, a descendant of Abraham, was a member of the house of David. He was the Son of the late Joseph, a carpenter of Nazareth, and Mary, His devoted Mother. Jesus was born in a stable in the city of Bethlehem, Judea. He is survived by His mother Mary, His faithful Apostles, numerous disciples, and many other followers.

Jesus was self-educated and spent most of his adult life working as a Carpenter and a Teacher. Jesus also occasionally worked as a Medical Doctor and it is reported that he healed many patients. Up until the time of His death, Jesus was teaching and sharing the Good News, healing the sick, touching the lonely, feeding the hungry, and helping the poor.

Jesus was most noted for telling parables about His Father`s Kingdom and performing miracles, such as feeding over 5,000 people with only five loaves of bread and two fish, and healing a man who was born blind. On the day before His death, He held a Last Supper celebrating the Passover Feast, at which He foretold His death.

The body was quickly buried in a stone grave, which was donated by Joseph of Arimathea, a loyal friend of the family.
By order of Pontius Pilate, a boulder was rolled in front of the tomb. Roman soldiers were put on guard.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that everyone try to live as Jesus did. Donations may be sent to anyone in need.

Christ Arose from the Dead

The greatest thing of all is Christ arose from the dead three days after his death. He is alive! Check out this blog post of mine No Bones About It — Jesus is Alive! Why did I share this with you? This is a good statement of life of Jesus Christ. So actually we don’t need an obituary for someone who is alive! But this could have been written for his death before Christ was Resurrected.

We are alive in Christ if we truly accept Him as our Lord and Savior, as we, are alive in Him. He gives us eternal life in Heaven.

You can also look at it another way that Jesus Christ did leave His obituary … His whole life is found within the Bible both Old and New Testament.

That’s what Easter is all about celebrating the risen Savior. Jesus came was born of a virgin. He died on the cross to save us from our sins. He was buried in a tomb that was sealed. Then three days later He arose from the dead, conquering death and sin.
