I am a murderer, on two counts and you are too

I am a murderer, on two counts and you are too. I figured that would get your attention! We all are murders in one way even without killing someone ourselves.

No! I haven’t killed anyone, but I want to show you a couple of things to make you think about that. One deals with our sin and the other deals with hatred.

I am a murderer, on two counts and you are too. I figured that would get your attention! We all are murders in one way even without killing someone ourselves.

Count One!

My sin helped to put Jesus to death on the cross. He paid a debt, he didn’t owe to save me and He has done the same for you too! Everyone’s sin has put Jesus to death on the cross. If you put someone to death, that usually is called murder.

Count Two!

If you hate someone, you have committed murder in your heart. We all have hated someone in our lifetime. 1 John 3:15, Matthew 5:21-26.

Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer; and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.

1 John 3:15

21 “You have heard that the ancients were told, ‘You shall not commit murder’ and ‘Whoever commits murder shall be liable to the court.’ 22 But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be guilty before the court; and whoever says to his brother, ‘You good-for-nothing,’ shall be guilty before the supreme court; and whoever says, ‘You fool,’ shall be guilty enough to go into the fiery hell. 23 Therefore if you are presenting your offering at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your [joffering there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and present your offering. 25 Make friends quickly with your opponent at law while you are with him on the way, so that your opponent may not hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the officer, and you be thrown into prison. 26 Truly I say to you, you will not come out of there until you have paid up the last cent.

Matthew 5:21-26 NASB

If we say we haven’t hated anyone, we are a liar.

The good thing is that Jesus Christ offers forgiveness! That is why He died on the cross to save us from our sin. He conquered death and sin on the Cross. All we need to do is put our total trust in Him and Him alone. Jesus is the only way to Heaven!

Even though I helped to put Jesus to death on the Cross and have hated someone, He died to save us! He has set us free! We are no longer known as a murder, but a Child of God when we are saved, born again.
