Heliotropism Following the Son

Heliotropism is a term referred to how sunflowers turn toward the sun. We as Christians should do the same thing when it comes to the Son. Son being the Son of God, Jesus Christ. Read this blog entry about Christian Heliotropism. #Heliotropism

Heliotropism

Is a term that means following the sun or turning toward the sun. A Sunflower follows the sun. No matter what time of the day it is the head of the flower is following this sun. I heard about this on K-Love back when this post was first published in 2013. So I figured I would make a blog post on following the Son.

Following Christ

We are called to follow Christ. Since Christ is the Son of God, and we are to follow the Son we can say we are showing heliotropism. Following the Son! The Son of God that is. The Bible tells us we are to follow Christ. We are to take up our Cross and deny ourselves. Not to be selfish. An example of this is Junior Garcia, a young man who is carrying a Cross to show others about Christ. (Click here to read that storyI personally got to meet this young man. When we follow Christ we become fisher of men. We witness to others and spread the Good News. We share that Christ died for our sins. Following Christ we will show others a new us, we will show the Love of God to others. We should do everything in our power to make sure we set  the best example for Christ. We should give our best to Christ too. Not our second best, or last best, but the very best!

heliotrope

Old English eliotropus (originally applied to various plants whose flowers turn toward the sun), via Latin from Greek hēliotropion ‘plant turning its flowers to the sun,’ from hēlios ‘sun’ + trepein ‘to turn.’ The spelling was influenced by French héliotrope .

Matthew 16:24

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

Be like the sunflower

We as Christians should strive to always keep our face on the Son. Granted the sunflower has its face toward the sun. We should have our face looking up to Heaven toward the Son, The Son of God. He is our Savior, he is the one that will help us through everything. God will soon one day send His Son back. It can be sooner than we may think too.

We are to put our trust in Him and He will deliver us. We don’t need to look back, we need to look forward. God gave us such a precious gift. The gift of salvation. Check out what this church signs read. It tells you what Exposure to the Son will do. (Click here to see that church sign) When the sunflower turns for facing the sun they usually turn 180 degrees. When we put our face on the Son and focus on him our actions usually do a 180 degree turn as well. We are a new creation as the Bible says. (See 2 Corinthians 5:17)
