This Friday, June 13, 2014, is Friday the 13th. Not only that it is a special Friday the 13th. What makes this one so special? It is the fact it also falls on a Full Moon. This is a rare occurrence. Just FYI the Friday the 13th on January 2017 was not a full moon. The Full moon occurred the 11th of January, just days before. It might look like one though. (Started on the 11th at night and full peaked early in the morning on the 12th.)
Special Full Moon
It’s also known as the “Honey Moon” some call it a “Strawberry Moon” since it can have a slightly golden tint. This is the first time since Oct. 13, 2000, that a full moon has occurred on a Friday the 13th of any month, and it won’t happen again until Oct. 13, 2049. As far as in June it was in 1919.
The Strawberry Moon was named because it allowed a Native American Tribe to know when to harvest the strawberries.

Satan wants people to be scared. He doesn’t want people turning to God. Remember Satan knows God is real! See 1 Peter 5:8 & 2 Corinthians 11:14-15 But we shouldn’t fear any fire darts that the devil will throw, because we know God have the victory in the end! Psalm 23 is a great one to show that Lord is with us and we should fear no evil. More verses to check out Proverbs 3:25 | Ecclesiastes 8:13 | Joshua 1:9
Some people believe that Judas, who later to betray Jesus was the 13th person at the Lords Supper and the Lord’s Supper occurred on a Friday. But, I truly don’t feel that is where it stemmed at.
Christians should avoid superstitions
Why christians shouldn’t celebrate Friday 13th?
Another word for superstition is “idolatry.” The Bible does not support the idea of things occurring by chance, but nothing is done outside of God’s sovereign control. There are many types of superstitions in the world, ranging from the benign—such as not walking under a ladder—to the occult practices of astrology, black magic, divination, voodoo and sorcery.
Evil should be avoid, consulting evil as well. We are to consult God and God alone. If you look through the Levitical Laws people were put to death for such activities. God even put King Saul to death for seeking medium advice instead of advice from Him. A Medium is the devil trying to make other people believe him instead of God.

It may be Friday the 13th, but it is still another day that God has given us. If we are alive, God is not done with us yet. Use this day to witness to someone. Share Christ with someone. So what if you walked under a ladder or broke a mirror. It is just that. There is no such thing as bad luck. God has already destined us for our life. We are given the free will do with our life as we please, but remember doing what pleases us rather than pleasing God has dire consequences. God has the victory in the end. We should not fear or worry about anything. God is always with us! We are the ones leaving Him.
I think if we, as Christians celebrate this holiday we are pay tribute to Satan. Devil has this day to try to keep people inside and not do anything. He will do anything to stop the Word from getting out. If we celebrate or stay inside on this day we are saying we don’t believe or trust in God. So let’s stop this crazy idolatry and turn to God. Use this day to share the Good News!
If you cannot leave the superstition and evil behind, pray to God for help. Seek Him, not mediums or evil spirits. Ask God for the guidance, the Holy Spirit, our helper will assist in sharing the Word.
Here is a sample prayer from Flowing Faith …
We bring to you all our fears,
all our hesitation about Friday the13th.
Show us how to let go all of our fears,
all our superstitions.
We praise you that you’re almighty!
We praise you that your promises are always true.
Help us to live in your grace and peace every day of our lives.
In Jesus’ name,
Thanks and God Bless!
I enjoy listening to nothing but Christian Music. Camping and hiking is something that I enjoy. I guess that is because I am an Eagle Scout. Blogging is something I enjoy doing too. I have been blogging since 2004. However, I have been blogging on Courageous Christian Father since 2012. I am married with 1 daughter and 2 step-sons and a step daughter.
